Building: former Shanghai Automotive Brake Company

 

The Bridge 8 used to be the abandoned factory buildings of the Shanghai Automotive Brake Company. In 2003 the whole place was transformed into a creative cluster of 20,000 square meters, with a bridge of creativity connecting the two buildings. In the renovation process, a lot of public space has been preserved as the Loft office space that can be divided according to specific needs. The energy saving systems of solar photovoltaic power generation system, solar water heating system and ground source heat pump air-conditioning system makes The Bridge 8 a model for the energy saving of old factory buildings in Shanghai.

 

The Bridge 8 has become an incubator for creative industries and the a platform for creative people in Shanghai, with over 70 famous creative enterprises from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, USA and Italy, covering the fields of architecture and interior design, fashion design, advertising, consulting, and Film & TV production. The cluster has creative over 1,000 jobs for the creative workers. In the past years, The Bridge 8 has received about 110,000 visits home and abroad, and has been reported by more than 120 medias from the perspectives of fashion, economy, entertainment and tourism. The Bridge 8 is also the model for industrial design in China, the model of enterprise IT development in Shanghai, and the most influential brand in Luwan district.
